Just so you know, Varun has been doing fantastic throughout the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He’s taken a total of 14 wickets in 6 matches. And guess what? Kolkata Knight Riders have decided to keep him for the IPL 2024.
So, on Tuesday, Varun, who’s a big player for KKR, bowled out Nagaland’s batsmen for just 69 runs at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. He took 5 wickets and only gave away 9 runs in 5 overs. That’s pretty amazing!

Varun bowled really well, not giving Nagaland’s batsmen any chance. This is the second time he’s taken 5 wickets in a single inning in List A cricket for Tamil Nadu.

Dinesh Karthik, the captain of Tamil Nadu, used Varun smartly during the powerplay, and it worked like magic. Other bowlers like T Natarajan and Sandeep Warrier got rid of Nagaland’s openers, and then Varun, along with R Sai Kishore, took over. Sai Kishore did a great job too, taking 3 wickets in 5.4 overs.
Nagaland All Out For 69 Runs In 19.4 Overs
Nagaland’s whole team was out for just 69 runs in 19.4 overs. After that, Sai Kishore (37*) and N Jagadeesan (30*) quickly chased down the target in just 7.5 overs without losing any more wickets.
Tamil Nadu Leading The Group E
With this win, Tamil Nadu is leading Group E with 20 points from 6 matches, leaving Bengal behind. They only lost one match in the tournament, against Punjab.
