Sreesanth praised the role of former Indian batsman Suresh Raina in winning the World Cup.
In a recent chat, Sreesanth shared his heartfelt thoughts on the 2011 World Cup and gave a nod to Raina’s pivotal role in India’s triumph. According to Sreesanth, “Suresh Raina is one of India’s unsung heroes. In the 2011 World Cup, his innings against Australia and Pakistan were game-changers. Without Raina, those crucial victories and reaching the final wouldn’t have been possible.”
Sreesanth went on to appreciate Raina’s contributions, noting, “Many say Dhoni didn’t win the World Cup alone; even Gautam Gambhir emphasizes this. We all played our part in India’s World Cup victory, and Raina was a linchpin.”

Digging into Raina’s specific moments, Sreesanth highlighted, “Against Australia, Raina played a stellar unbeaten innings of 34 runs off 28 balls. Facing Pakistan, he scored 36 runs off 39 balls. Those innings turned the tide for us.”
Expressing his admiration for Raina, Sreesanth shared, “I’m a huge fan of Suresh Raina. I affectionately call him ‘Dharmendra’ because, besides being a fantastic cricketer, he’s also a great singer. Even now, in various cricket leagues, I’m confident he’ll continue to deliver standout performances.”
As part of the 2011 World Cup-winning squad, Sreesanth wrapped up by saying, “I genuinely believe that, collectively, we all played a role in bringing the World Cup home for India. Suresh Raina’s contributions were crucial, and he truly deserves recognition for his stellar performance.”
