Punjab’s Anmolpreet Singh Scored Match winning Century In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Punjab defeated Baroda by 20 runs to claim the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for the first time. Before this, Punjab had reached the final four times in the tournament’s history but had lost on all four occasions.

On Monday, at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Anmolpreet Singh of Punjab scored a century in 58 balls. He made 113 runs with the help of 10 fours and six sixes in 61 balls. Thanks to his century, Punjab set the highest score ever in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final, with 223 runs on the board.

This century by Anmolpreet was the highest individual score by a Punjab batsman in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final and the fourth-highest total in the tournament’s history. Shubhman Gill holds the record for the highest score in the tournament on behalf of the state.

Anmolpreet came in to bat at 18 runs for 2 wickets and partnered with captain Mandeep Singh, contributing to a 62-run partnership. Krunal Pandya dismissed Mandeep with an unsuccessful reverse sweep, caught by Atit Seth.

This partnership was crucial for Punjab, as Anmolpreet, along with Nehal Wadera, put together 138 runs on the board. Nehal Wadera also contributed with 61 runs off 27 balls.

Baroda Won The Toss And Decided To Field

Baroda’s captain, Krunal Pandya, won the toss and chose to field first. Punjab managed to score a significant total of 223 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs.

Anmolpreet hit 10 fours and 6 sixes in his innings of 61 balls, while Nehal scored 6 fours and 4 splendid sixes in his 27-ball innings. At one point, Punjab had lost two wickets at 18 runs and three wickets at 80 runs. However, Anmol and Nehal’s 138-run partnership for the fourth wicket helped the team reach a substantial score.

Arshpreet Singh Pick Of The Bowlers For Punjab

For Baroda, Krunal Pandya, Soyeab, and Atit took one wicket each. In response, Punjab restricted Baroda to 203 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs, securing victory. Abhimanyu Singh Rajput was the top scorer for Baroda with 61 runs. Arshdeep Singh’s impressive bowling figures of 4/23 played a crucial role in Punjab’s victory.
