While Ben McDermott played a commendable innings, scoring 54 runs in 36 balls, he lacked support from the other end. Australia needed 10 runs in the last over, with Matthew Wade seemingly set at the crease. Captain Suryakumar entrusted Arshdeep Singh, who had conceded 37 runs in his three overs, with the crucial responsibility. Arshdeep rose to the occasion, preventing Wade from scoring on the first two balls. Wade lost his wicket attempting a big shot on the third ball. Arshdeep bowled tightly in the remaining three balls, securing India’s victory by conceding only 3 runs in the last over.

Iyer and Akshar’s Strong Innings

Apart from Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel, the Indian batsmen had a disappointing performance. Yashasvi Jaiswal couldn’t capitalize on a good start and exited after scoring only 21 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad managed 10 runs before being dismissed, and captain Suryakumar fell for 5 runs. Rinku Singh was dismissed for just 6 runs by Tanveer Sangha. However, Shreyas Iyer’s resilient innings of 53 runs in 37 balls, supported by Akshar Patel’s 31 runs in 21 balls, propelled the Indian team to a total of 160 runs on the scoreboard.
