With this victory, Team India won all its matches in the group round by defeated all nine opponents. India won the toss and decided to bat first at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Team India scored 410 runs for four wickets in 50 overs. In reply, Netherlands team was all out for 250 runs in 47.4 overs.

Batting first, the Indian team posted a total of 410 runs, losing four wickets. The Indian openers provided an explosive start for the team. The duo of Gill and Rohit began showcasing their skills right from the opening over. Rohit struck two fours in Aryan Dutt’s initial over, and Gill smashed a six covering a distance of 95 meters. The Indian team accumulated a total of 91 runs in the initial 10 overs without losing any wickets.

Shreyas Iyer recorded the highest score with an unbeaten 128 runs, while Lokesh Rahul contributed 102 runs to the innings. Captain Rohit chipped in with 61 runs, and the pair of Gill and Kohli combined for 51 runs. Notably, all of India’s top five batsmen scored more than 50 runs in this match.

Lokesh Rahul and Shreyas Iyer formed a formidable partnership of 208 runs for the fourth wicket. This performance stands as India’s second-best score in the World Cup, following their 413-run achievement against Bermuda in 2007. Lokesh Rahul’s century came in just 62 balls, marking the fastest century for the country in the World Cup. For Netherlands, Just de Leede took two wickets, while Meekren and Merwe claimed one wicket each.

Kohli notched up his 71st fifty in his one-day international (ODI) career. With a total of 594 runs, he has become the leading run-scorer in the 2023 World Cup, surpassing Quentin de Kock’s 591 runs. Rohit Sharma achieved his 100th international half-century in cricket. He has accumulated 16 fifties in Test matches, 55 in ODIs, and 29 in T20 internationals.

The Netherlands Innings

Chasing a target of 411 runs, the Netherlands team faced an early setback as Wesley Barresi lost his wicket in just the second over. Barresi managed to score only 4 runs before getting caught behind on Mohammad Siraj’s delivery. Coming in at number 3, Colin Ackermann formed a fifty partnership with Max O’Dowd. Both batsmen took the team’s score to 62 runs in 10 overs.

After the conclusion of the first powerplay, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja applied the brakes on the run flow. Kuldeep dismissed Ackermann, caught LBW, while Jadeja bowled O’Dowd. The team lost three wickets with the score at 72 runs.

After a promising start in the powerplay, the Netherlands batsmen came under pressure. None of the batsmen from the team could manage to score a fifty. The team lost 5 wickets in the middle 30 overs, scoring 128 runs.

During this phase, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Suryakumar Yadav showcased their bowling skills. Virat Kohli dismissed Netherlands’ captain Scott Edwards. He took one wicket, giving away 13 runs in 3 overs.

On the other hand, Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav remained wicketless after bowling 2-2 overs each. After 40 overs, the team’s score stood at 190/6. The Netherlands team was eventually bowled out for 250 runs in 47.5 overs.

Nine Indian players had a go at bowling in this match, showcasing a stellar performance. Rohit Sharma utilized nine out of eleven players for bowling duties, with only KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer abstaining. Notably, senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma each claimed a wicket.

Shubhman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav also had the opportunity to showcase their bowling skills. Among the Indian bowlers, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav each took two wickets. However, Mohammed Shami did not manage to secure a wicket in this match.

For the Netherlands, Teja Nidamanuru was the lone player to score a half-century in the match, contributing the highest score of 54 runs. Sybrand scored 45, Colin Ackerman made 35, and Max Oddad contributed 30 runs.

Captain Scott Edwards scored 17 runs, while Logan Van Beek and Roelof van der Merwe were both dismissed after scoring 16 runs each. Bas De Leede scored 12 runs, Aryan Dutt scored five runs, and Wesley Barresi managed four runs. Paul Van Meekeren remained unbeaten after scoring three runs.
