India defeated Australia by two wickets in the opening match of T20 series against Australia. Team India reached its goal of 209 runs on the final ball losing eight wickets. In T20 cricket, this is India’s most successful run chase against the Kangaroos. The previous record for the most successful run chase was 202/4, which India accomplished in Rajkot in 2013.

After losing the toss Australia batted first and scored 208 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs in Visakhapatnam. Josh Inglis played a brilliant inning, reaching his first T20 century scoring 110 runs off of 50 balls. In addition to Inglis, Steve Smith hit 52 runs, and the two of them combined for 130 runs partership in 66 balls.
