ROHIT SHARMA BREAKS SACHIN TENDULKAR’S RECORD OF SCORING MOST HUNDREDS IN WORLD CUP

Rohit Sharma- The India Skipper leads from the front as team India’s winning campaign continues in the World Cup 2023. In the second match, Team India defeated Afghanistan by eight wickets. Afghanistan, after winning the toss and batting first, scored 272 runs after losing eight wickets in 50 overs. Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi played an inning of 80 runs and Azmatullah Omarzai played an inning of 62 runs.

In reply, India achieved the target by losing two wickets in 35 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma played an inning of 131 runs in 84 balls with the help of 16 fours and five sixes.

ROHIT SHARMA SCORED TON, WHILE VIRAT SCORED FIFTY

Virat Kohli played a not out inning of 55 runs in 56 balls. He made India win the match by 8 wickets by hitting a four on the last ball of the 35th over. Virat hit 6 fours in his innings and also made a partnership of 68 runs with Shreyas Iyer. Shreyas remained not out after scoring 25 runs.

Captain Rohit Sharma, who came to open from India, started attacking in the initial overs itself. He scored fifty on 30 balls and century on 63 balls. He was out after scoring 131 runs on 84 balls. In this innings he hit 16 fours and 5 sixes.

ROHIT SHARMA BECAME FIRST PLAYER TO SCORE 7 WORLD CUP CENTURIES

Rohit Sharma scored 63 balls century against Afghanistan. He became the first player in the world to score 7 centuries in the ODI World Cup. He broke the record of The Great Sachin Tendulkar, who has 6 centuries in 44 World Cup innings innings. Rohit Sharma had scored one century in 2015 and 5 centuries in 2019. This is the 31st century of Rohit’s ODI career.

ROHIT SHARMA BECOMES THE LEADING SIX HITTER IN WORLD CRICKET

Rohit Sharma became the sixer king of international cricket by hitting his third six in the innings against Afghanistan. Including all three formats, Rohit has 556 sixes. He broke the record of Chris Gayle of West Indies, who had hit 553 sixes in 453 matches.

Rohit has hit 77 sixes in T-20, 182 in Test and 297 sixes in ODI. Rohit also completed 1000 ODI World Cup runs in this innings. He achieved this record in 19 innings. He became the fastest Indian to do so.

JASPRIT BUMRAH TOOK 4 WICKETS

Jasprit Bumrah took 4 wickets. He got opener Ibrahim Zadran caught out in the 7th over. Then he took 2 wickets in the 45th over of the innings, after getting Najibullah Zadran caught out, he got Mohammad Nabi out. Bumrah ended his spell by taking the wicket of Rashid Khan in the 49th over. He gave 39 runs in 10 overs.

AFGHANISTAN INNINGS

After winning the toss and coming to bat, Afghanistan team made an average start. The team scored 48 runs losing one wicket in 10 overs. Ibrahim Zadran became the victim of Jasprit Bumrah after scoring 22 runs. After losing the wicket of Ibrahim Zadran in the powerplay, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Rahmat Shah took charge of Afghanistan.

But both the players were out in consecutive overs. In the 13th over, Hardik Pandya sent Gurbaz to the pavilion, while in the 14th over, Shardul got Rahmat Shah.

After losing 3 wickets for 63 runs, captain Hashmatullah and all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai took charge of Afghanistan. Both took time and made a century partnership. Omarzai became the victim of Hardik Pandya and the partnership between the two broke. Both of them made a partnership of 121 runs on 128 balls.

Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi took charge of Afghanistan after the early fall of three wickets. He made a century partnership with Azmatullah and took the team’s score beyond 200 runs. Shahidi played an innings of 80 runs, he was LBW on the ball of Kuldeep Yadav.

INDIA TO PLAY ARCH RIVALS PAKISTAN IN NEXT MATCH

Rohit Sharma led Indian side will face arch rivals Pakistan in their next match at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 14 October. Pakistan cricket team has already reached Ahmedabad before the mega event. Both the teams are riding high after winning both of their matches in the World cup.
