The ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, featuring 10 teams in India, serves as the qualifying ground for the Champions Trophy. Only the top 8 teams from this tournament will secure a spot in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to be held in Pakistan during February-March. Six teams had already qualified, and now, England has joined the list after facing the risk of exclusion.

England’s journey to qualification was a rollercoaster, experiencing six defeats in the initial seven matches. However, they turned the tide by winning the last two matches, securing their place in the Champions Trophy. Their crucial match in the World Cup 2023 league stage against Pakistan proved pivotal. England not only won the match but also enhanced their run rate with a substantial score.

Host Pakistan, along with India, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan, have already qualified for the Champions Trophy. Notably, Afghanistan’s qualification marks their debut in this prestigious tournament, while Pakistan, as the host, has an automatic entry. Seven more countries are vying for the remaining spots, with a competition between Netherlands and Bangladesh for the final qualification.

England’s performance in this World Cup has been below par, a stark contrast to their previous championship. Despite their struggles, they showcased resilience against Pakistan in their last match of the ODI World Cup 2023.

England has defeated Pakistan by 93 runs. With this victory, England has confirmed its place in the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan. At the same time, the journey of Pakistan and England in the ODI World Cup 2023 has ended. After India and South Africa, Australia and finally New Zealand have made it to the semi-finals.
