On Saturday, in the match played at Dharamshala, New Zealand won the toss and chose to field. The Australian team, playing their first World Cup match, was bowled out for 388 runs in 49.2 overs. In response, the New Zealand team managed to score 383 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs.

Travis Head, who was playing his first World Cup match for Australia, scored a century (109 runs). For New Zealand, Rachin Ravindra (116 runs) played a century inning. He became the world’s second batsman to score centuries in two World Cups at the age of 23. Sachin Tendulkar had previously achieved this feat.

The Australian batsmen created pressure from the early overs. They made a strong start for Australia in the Powerplay. Australia scored 118 runs in the Powerplay without any loss.

David Warner and Travis Head had a century partnership. Both added 175 runs for the first wicket. This partnership was broken with Warner’s wicket. He fell victim to Glenn Phillips.

Australia managed to score a total of 388 runs before being bowled out. Maxwell played a quick-fire innings, hitting five fours and two sixes, and Josh Inglis scored 38 runs with four fours and a six. Captain Pat Cummins also chipped in with a quick 37 runs, which included two fours and four sixes.

In the bowling department, Trent Boult took three wickets in the 49th over, dismissing James Neesham, Inglis, and Jhye Richardson. Additionally, Mitchell Santner claimed two wickets, while Matt Henry and Neesham took one wicket each. Australia’s innings concluded at 388 runs.

Head’s first century in the tournament and the fourth of his career

Australia’s Travis Head scored a century. He played an inning of 109 runs. In addition to him, David Warner scored 81 runs. For New Zealand, Glenn Phillips and Trent Boult took three wickets each.

Rachin Ravindra played an inning of 116 runs off 89 balls. He completed his century in 77 balls. This is his second century of his one-day international (ODI) career.

Both centuries came in World Cup matches. Rachin is the world’s second youngest batsman to score two centuries in World Cup matches at the age of less than 24 years. Sachin Tendulkar is the only other batsman to achieve this feat before him.

Nice to be back. Nice to be contributing. Nice to get the win, got very close there, was a hell of a game. I had only had a couple of hits. Obviously had a six-7 weeks off. I think so getting the confidence back on return.
